Anila Hashmi is a senior medical scientist at NSW Health Pathology, holding MAIMS accreditation from the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, an MSc in Laboratory Medicine from the University of Sydney, and a PhD in cancer biomarker research from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She is currently undertaking the RCPA Clinical Scientist Fellowship in Chemical Pathology.
Her career spans clinical laboratory roles in the UAE—where she passed the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licensing exam—and across leading Australian diagnostic laboratories including NSW Health Pathology, SA Pathology, QML Pathology, and Laverty Pathology.
Professional interests include the discovery and validation of biomarkers in diagnostic testing, evaluation of their impact on patient outcomes, and the delivery of staff education. Contributions to national and international conferences include AACB, AIMS, RCPA, RACS, and ADLM. In 2025, Anila was awarded the Outstanding Abstract Travel Award by the Endocrine Society to present her research at ENDO 2025 in San Francisco.
